WHY UMBRIA

A trip to visit winemaking friends in Umbria had us excited about working and living outside the box. We had looked for many years for a permanent location in the Napa Valley for our winemaking that would allow us to produce the quality wines that we desired. When we saw the Montorsolo property near Todi, all of the boxes were ticked.

The challenges of quickly changing weather and its impact on the vines and crop require vigilant attention to detail, while often mandating innovative caretaking. The seasonality of caring and nurturing the grapes throughout the growing season, then when they are just right transforming them into the best wines possible. Literally seeing the fruits of our labor is what gets us up in the morning, to make wine in this extraordinary region.
